Keyboard Navigation & Shortcuts

  • File Menu:
    • ⌘⇧N - Create new journal
    • ⌘N - Create new note
  • Search:
    • ⌘⇧F - Search all notes in current project
    • ⌘F - Find in current note
    • ⌘⌥F - Filter notes in current journal
  • View:
    • ⌘1 - One pane layout (editor only)
    • ⌘2 - Two pane layout (notes + editor)
    • ⌘3 - Three pane layout (journals + notes + editor)
    • ⌘+ - Zoom in on editor text
    • ⌘- - Zoom out on editor text
    • ⌘0 - Reset editor text to actual size
  • Editor:
    • ⌘S - Save current note in the frontmost window
    • ⌘E - Cycle through editor modes (Markdown ↔ WYSIWYG)
    • ⌘⇧Y - Toggle Formatting Toolbar in the frontmost note window
    • ⌘K - Add a link to another note when the note editor is focused. Uses selected text when available; without a selection, inserts a link using the destination note’s title at the cursor.
    • ⌘⇧B - Toggle/apply a bullet list in the frontmost note editor
    • ⌘⌥1 / ⌘⌥2 / ⌘⌥3 - Apply Heading 1 / Heading 2 / Heading 3
    • ⌘⌥4 / ⌘⌥5 / ⌘⌥6 - Apply Heading 4 / Heading 5 / Heading 6
    • ⌘T - Open Edit Tags in the frontmost note window
    • ⌘⇧L - Toggle Favourite status
  • Notes:
    • ⌘⌫ - Delete selected note(s) when the Notes pane is focused
    • ⌘↓ - Open selected note in a new window when the Notes pane is focused (single selection only)
  • Navigation:
    • ⌃⌥← - Move focus left between journals, notes, and the note editor
    • ⌃⌥→ - Move focus right between journals, notes, and the note editor
    • / - Navigate lists
    • / - Collapse/expand journal folders
    • / - Navigate search results
    • Return - Activate selected search result
  • Preferences:
    • ⌘, - Open Settings/Preferences
