Format Text
Showing the Formatting Toolbar
The formatting toolbar is hidden by default to reduce clutter. To reveal it, click the Aa button in the note toolbar:

You can also toggle the toolbar using the ⌘⇧Y keyboard shortcut.
Available Formatting Options

The formatting toolbar provides comprehensive Markdown editing capabilities:
For quick heading changes, use ⌘⌥1 through ⌘⌥6 to apply Heading 1 through Heading 6.
Use ⌘⇧B to turn the current line or selection into a bullet list.

Context-Sensitive Behavior
The formatting toolbar adapts to your current editing mode:
- WYSIWYG Mode - Buttons open interactive dialogs for complex elements like links and tables, making it easy to fill in the details
- Markdown Mode - Buttons insert Markdown templates directly into your text, letting you work quickly with raw syntax
This smart behaviour gives you the best of both worlds: visual editing when you want it, and direct Markdown control when you need speed.
