5. Customising the App

MinkNote works out of the box, but you can tailor it to suit the way you work.

Open MinkNote → Settings or press ⌘, to explore your options.

Your Project

Your project is the folder where MinkNote keeps your journals, notes, and images.

From Settings, you can see where your current project is stored, open it in Finder, switch to another project, or rebuild the index if search or tags aren’t behaving as expected.

Files and Saving

Choose how MinkNote works with your Markdown files, including:

• Whether notes are saved automatically
• Whether Markdown frontmatter is shown in the editor
• Whether image attachment folders are visible
• The file extension used for new notes

Your notes remain ordinary files on your Mac regardless of these settings.

Make MinkNote Yours

Adjust MinkNote’s appearance and editing experience to suit you.

You can choose Light or Dark mode, change the editor text size, reduce motion, show or hide sidebar counts, and customise what appears in the note list.

You can also choose between a single editor view and a side-by-side Markdown and rendered view.

Settings is also where you’ll find privacy information, ways to send feedback, and controls for managing MinkNote Pro.
