Frontmatter is a small block of hidden information at the top of your note. MinkNote uses it to manage things like tags, pinning, and internal identifiers. Most of the time, you won’t need to think about it at all.

By default, frontmatter stays out of sight so you can focus on writing. If you prefer, you can reveal and edit it in Markdown mode. This gives you full control while keeping your notes clean and readable in everyday use.
Because this information lives directly inside your Markdown files, nothing is hidden in a separate database. Your notes remain portable, transparent, and fully yours, both inside and outside MinkNote.
